Reflections In The Time Of Lockdown

The painting is part of our "Lockdown Series" when our annual plein air trips to Europe were made impossible, while domestic plein air work was, generally, restricted by shelter-in-lace regulations. In each painting in this studio interior series, we tried to convey the somewhat claustrophobic effect of the unusual lockdown situation and the bittersweet reflections on - and of - the previous better times, when traveling freely was never questioned, as well as some hope that such opportunities would come again in the future. Here, the travel-inspiring globe and Venetian Carnival masks are, seemingly, present only in the mirror.
