There are numerous canals in the Alsace Lorraine Valley of eastern France that connect to the Rhine River as well as other tributaries of the Rhine. These canals advanced transportation and trade in the early 17th century, and are now enjoyed by boaters as well as hikers. This painting is done with a combination
