Girl without a Pearl Earing
(self portrait)
The pollution caused by plastic in aquatic ecosystems has grown fundamentally in recent times, killing the lives of many animals and plants. It is one of the most durable products humanity has created, if not the most durable. After all, it can take thousands of years to degrade, and we're now learning that it probably won't degrade completely. It breaks down into microplastics, which are often considered more harmful to human health and the natural environment than other types of plastic. This will suffocate us all if we don't act quickly. Even small acts in our lifestyle can make a big difference. Be part of the soluciĆ³n, not of the pollution.
This work is my self-portrait.
The plastic bag with its shape resembles a sea shell, which until now has had beautiful pearls in it...
But the oceans today are full of garbage and there are no more shells or pretty pearls, there is no longer anything to make pretty earrings, ornaments... because we have destroyed everything, all the beauty of the earth...
The only thing left for us is to decorate ourselves with garbage, which we use to make shapes that resemble elements of nature...
There is only hole in my ear without a beautiful pearl...
As terrible as the statistics are, there is hope.Every person on the planet is capable of helping to reduce the amount of plastic that enters the oceans and landfills.Even small acts in our lifestyle can make a big difference, especially when millions of people start making small changes.
