Reclamation

I stumbled upon this scene while exploring in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This bit of exposed roadway looked almost new, reclaimed by lava and small plants, glowing in the warm afternoon sun and punctuated by long shadows. I typically prefer to paint landscapes that are free of man-made structures, but this visual captivated me. I love the commentary on nature that it offers.
