Taking a Break

Spent time photographing a young ballerina at Baton Rouge Ballet Company, having her pose in several positions. When I noticed the beautiful natural blue light from the window, I had her sit on the floor like she was tying her toe shoes. The light on her back and tutu were just beautiful. However, my plan was never to paint her in the actual studio but to put her backstage with backstage light falling across her. That's the part that makes painting so rewarding!
