I was starting a project painting the backs of
women when COVID became a worldwide epidemic.
My inspiration for Face Forward was the feeling that our
world was fragile and in sudden chaos, and the desire
for health and better days ahead. The spine of this thin,
vulnerable woman represents to me the challenge we
all went through, our strength and its hopeful outcome
