Golden Hour at Table Rock Lake
It seems those transient in-between moments of fleeting light are often the most alluring but the most challenging and if successful, also the most rewarding to paint. Wandering around a midwestern lake with three days of plein air painting ahead of me, this was the first spot that really caught my eye. I returned to the spot twice more over the successive days to paint the short golden window before sunset. Back in the studio with my oil plein air sketch and photos, I created this larger painting of the scene.
